Janet F. Benard Lovings
WACO, Texas — Janet F. Benard Lovings passed away on May 25, 2024, in Waco, Texas at the age of 89. Janet was born April 7, 1935, in Escanaba, Mich. and was a 1953 graduate of Escanaba High School. Shortly after graduation she met and married Richard “Dick” Lovings of Winchester, Ky. They had five children. Moving many times through their years together, they finally settled on Texas as their home. Janet was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed her grandchildren and spent much of her time outdoors riding her lawn mower.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; son, Mitch Lovings; parents, Palmer “Pete” and Ethel Boomer Benard; brothers, William and Dennis Benard, sister-in-law, Florence “Floss” McCauley Benard; granddaughter, Jamie Gwynn Lovings; and great-granddaughter, Bryston Goodroe.
She is survived by her brother Duaine and sister-in-law Juanita Benard of Detroit, Michigan; daughter Sue Salmi, sons Rick and James (Sissie) Lovings, and daughter-in-law Vinita Lovings, all of Texas; son Jason (Nelly) Lovings of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren Tori, Kristina, Kerry, Nicole, Dan, Cassie, Lauren, Canyon, Sophie, Richie, Brady, and Zoe; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Monday, June 3 at 10 a.m. at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the College Station City Cemetery.
