HARDWOOD — Jeanne Ann Murray, 77, of Hardwood, passed away in the comfort of her own home on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Jeanne was born on January 17, 1947, in Escanaba to the late Arthur and Myrtle (Launderville) Valiquette and was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Lyle Boggs. On June 4, 1966, she married Thomas Murray in Gladstone. In 1982, she graduated from Bay College and received her degree in accounting. Jeanne worked for 13 years with Champion International and then 23 years with the Island Resort & Casino, retiring in 2022. She was a devout Catholic and long-time member of St. Joseph Parish in Foster City. Jeanne had many talents including ceramics, crocheting, cooking and baking. Her pasties were the best. Jeanne also enjoyed puzzles, playing cards and hunting and fishing with her husband.
Jeanne will be deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Murray; two sons, William (Sherri) LaVigne and Abel (Tara) Murray; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Tom Valiquette and Carolyn (Mike) Glamann; and many other family and friends.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, Jeanne is preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Lynn Quick; grandson, Billy LaVigne Jr.; and three sisters, Nancy Gucky, Patti Gagnon and Cindy Brown.
Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, W2332 Cemetery Rd, Foster City, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST on Friday, Feb. 16 with Rev. Daryl Pepin officiating the Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. CST. Burial will be in Foster City Cemetery in spring.
