ESCANABA — Beverly Phyllis Fournier, 93, passed away early Thursday morning, January 4, 2024, at Cedar Hill Assisted Living in Bark River.

She celebrated her 93rd birthday on January 3 surrounded by family and friends. The daughter to Berthel R. and Alice M. (Stenberg) Erickson, was born in Escanaba in 1931. She graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1948.

On June 17, 1950, the former Beverly Erickson married Arthur Fournier at the Bark River United Methodist Church. Beverly and Arthur were blessed with four boys, Thomas, Timothy, Tracy, and Todd.

She was employed with the Bark River State Bank, later known as the Northern Michigan Bank of Bark River. She was branch manager for 54 years, retiring in 2002.

Beverly was very active in the Bark River Community. She was treasurer and secretary on the Bark River Twp. Board for 20 years, involved in the American Legion Auxiliary, Salvation Army Board, Delta County Twp. Association and Delta Area Transit Authority, and was also the chairman for the bicentennial celebration for Bark River.

Another passion of Beverly’s was volunteering. She truly loved to give back; whether she helped at the Jacobetti Veterans Center or at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility she was always one to lend a helping hand. Bev also enjoyed baking and was an avid quilter. She proudly presented a quilt she helped make to George W. Bush. Lastly, Beverly will always be remembered for the gift of music she shared with many. She played the organ for 60 years for Bark River United Methodist Church in addition to many events and services within the community.

Survivors include her children, Timothy J. (Patty) Fournier of Bark River, and Tracy R. (Jody) Fournier of Bark River; daughter-in-law, Darcy Fournier of Wilson; and grandchildren, Steven (Sam) Fournier, Heather (Michael) Sheski, Rich (Katie) Fournier, Nicole Fournier, Travis (Dana) Fournier, Christina (Fournier) Tarrants, Fred Patterson, and Erica Patterson. The last title she got in life may have been her favorite, GiGi. She proudly had fourteen great-grandchildren; Taylor, Hailey, Brady, Kendall, Easton, Madeline, Lennox, Travis, Colton, Peyton, Owen, Onyx, Oliver, and Nolan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Fournier; sons, Todd Fournier and Thomas Fournier; daughter-in-law, Catherine Fournier; grandson, Tommy Fournier; and brother, Jack (Pat) Erickson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9 from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The Bark River American Legion Auxiliary will have their service at 3:45 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Christine Bergquist officiating. At the conclusion of the funeral, a gathering and meal will take place at the Bark River Senior Center.

Burial will take place in the Bark River Twp. Cemetery.
