Colleen Ann (McDonough) Kane

ESCANABA — Colleen Ann (McDonough) Kane, 68, of Escanaba, passed away early Friday morning, August 11, 2023 at her home surrounded by family following a brief battle with cancer.

She was born on September 9, 1954 in Escanaba, daughter of Thomas J. and Margaret L. “Peg” (Murphy) McDonough. Colleen was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School, class of 1973.

On August 4, 1973, Colleen married Dennis Robert Kane at St. Patrick’s Church in Escanaba. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2020.

Colleen worked at Shopko in customer service for many years until her retirement. What started out as a seasonal job was quickly something she loved doing.

She loved camping, fishing, shopping, and was talented in the kitchen for her cooking and baking. Over the years, Colleen enjoyed her trips to the casino and wintering in Gulf Shores with her husband, Dennis. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and loved watching the games with her family.

Spending time with her Gulf Shores group of friends was special to Colleen. Whether it was their weekly dinner outings or going to the casino, Colleen enjoyed every moment of it.

Among survivors are her two daughters, Stephanie (Erik) Simonsen of Perkins and Heather Khollman of Escanaba; son in law, Jeff Khollman of Escanaba; grandchildren, Zadie Carlson, Dylan and Kendra Simonsen, and Noah, Kaitlyn, and Wyatt Khollman; brother, Terry (Cindy) McDonough of Gladstone; mother-in-law, Rose Kane of Escanaba; sisters in law, Nancy McDonough and Sandra (Bernard) Wiltzius; close friends, Kathy Hansen and Donna Whitehead; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shannon Carlson in February 11, 2020; brother, Gerald McDonough; and father-in-law, Robert Kane.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Timothy Ferguson officiating.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
