Rebecca Phalen

Becky was born October 19, 1970, in Escanaba, Mich., the daughter of Guy Donovan and Kristine (Menard) Gallant.

Becky attended Escanaba and Gladstone Area Schools. She graduated from Gladstone Class of 1989.

Becky worked in the banking industry for 20 years. She spent 10 years employed in Iron Mountain and finished her last 10 years at Baybank in Gladstone. Becky left banking to pursue her dream of owning a bar. For the last 10 years Becky and her husband, Dave have own and operated, The Kipling Bar.

Becky was united in marriage to David Phalen on July 20, 2002 in Gladstone. When Becky wasn’t busy at the bar, she enjoyed crocheting. She especially cherished her time spent with family. She also enjoyed riding their Harley.

In addition to her loving husband, Becky is survived by: children, Lindsay (Anthony) Bauer of Gladstone, Mich., David Phalen of Gladstone, Mich., Jaycee (Dalton Blunt) Phalen of Escanaba, Mich., Olivia Phalen of Rapid River, Mich.; two grandchildren, Lachlan and Eden and one granddaughter on the way; mother, Kristine Gallant; siblings, Jennifer Brow, Sarah Wagner, Jim Donovan and Michael Kositzke. In addition, several step brothers and sisters, mother and father-in-law, Cherie and David Phalen of Gladstone, Mich.; brother-in-law, Robi Phalen of Marinette, Wis. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services will take place at 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Celebration of Becky’s life will continue at The Kipling Bar. Becky will be laid to rest in the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
