Dolores B Bink
WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Dolores B. Bink, (Jacobson) age 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend, Wis. Dolores was born on July 6, 1934, in Escanaba, the daughter of Melvin and Evelyn (Anderson) Jacobson. Melvin was a well-known commercial fisherman in the area. Dolores attended a one room school house for many years, which she always said was the best way to learn. “You didn’t just learn your grade you learned the older grades also.”
When she was 18 she traveled to Illinois and worked as a switchboard operator for a few years. Upon returning to the area she met the love of her life, Jerry Bink, while he was delivering pop for the Bink Coca Cola Bottling Co. all over the Upper Peninsula.
They married in 1954, lived in Escanaba, and had two daughters before moving to Milwaukee in 1959 to raise their family.
She worked as a receptionist for multiple law firms in the Milwaukee area while raising four children.
She found an outlet for her musical talent and beautiful singing voice at church in the 1970s. She sang and played the autoharp, which then evolved into a full-size Celtic Lever Harp. She played her harp and sang professionally at weddings, parties, and funerals for over 40 years. She was a regular at the Harp Tent during Milwaukee’s Irish Fest. She also played on Valentine’s Day every year at The Colony House Restaurant in Trevor, Wis.
