Robert J. ‘Bob’ Moran
ESCANABA — Robert J. “Bob” Moran, 90, of Escanaba, passed away on Saturday evening, April 6, 2019, at his home with his loving family surrounding him.
He was born on June 3, 1928, in Escanaba, son of Albert and Amelia (Guay) Moran. Bob graduated from Escanaba High School.
On June 23, 1951, Bob married Roberta “Joy” Valind at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2017.
Bob was employed as a printer for 32 years at Richards Printing and 12 years at the Escanaba Daily Press Pressroom in Powers, retiring in June of 1990.
He enjoyed reading, golfing, fishing and playing cribbage at the V.F.W. and Eagles Club. He loved watching sports and was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan.
Bob was a member of the St. Anne’s Church, Eagles Club and the International Typographical Union.
He is survived by his four children, Sally (Larry) Johnson of Wilson, Donna Whitehead of Two Rivers, Wis., Jean (Tom) Peters of Two Rivers, Wis., and Judy (Gordon) Wery of Savannah, Ga.; and 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
In addition to Bob’s parents and wife, Joy, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, William Whitehead; grandson, Keith Preston; a great-granddaughter; and siblings, Frances and Raymond Moran; and sister, Beatrice Koster.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
Entombment will be in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
