Robert E. Tighe

ESCANABA — Robert E. Tighe, 84, of Escanaba, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017.

Friday our Dad took his last breath after a courageous two year battle with mesothelioma. He passed surrounded by his wife, many children and grandchildren, who shared so much love over the 84 years of his life. Bob was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper, father, and grandfather. He was a strong supporter of St. Anne’s Church and Holy Name Central School. His tireless attention to detail led to great successes, whether raising tents for St. Anne’s bingo, raising funds, or raising a family, he is a good Catholic man.

Bob is survived by: his wife Janet (Brinker) Tighe of 59 years, who cared for him lovingly over the past years of his illness; his children, David (Maureen) Tighe of Sammamish, WA, Lorraine Tighe of LaPorte, IN, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Powers of Kennewick, Wash., Colleen (Bill) Reader of Beaverton, Mich., Thomas (Carol) Tighe of Orofino, Idaho, Michael (Kirsten) Tighe of Whitefish Bay, Wis., Patricia (Lorne Watson) Tighe of Escanaba, Daniel Tighe of Rockford, Mich., and Robert (Judy) Tighe of Royal Oak, Mich.; and 15 grandchildren.

As a veteran of the United States Air Force he received an honorable discharge after serving in the Korean War.

Bob is a man of his word, who could see the good in all people, and will be sadly missed by those who knew him.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 3 from 10 – 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church. The Rosary will be recited at 11 a.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to Holy Name School or St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Tighe family.
