Two linked to Minnesota homicide arrested in the U.P.

MARQUETTE — Two people linked to a homicide in Minnesota have been arrested in the Upper Peninsula.

On April 14, the Michigan State Police (MSP) were notified by the Moorhead, Minnesota Police Department that two individuals wanted in connection with a homicide that took place on April 13 were believed to be in the Ishpeming area. The homicide, which occurred in Moorhead, Minnesota, resulted in the death of a male victim.

Tuesday morning, MSP detectives located the suspects traveling in a vehicle. MSP troopers from Eighth District Headquarters subsequently conducted a traffic stop on M-28 near N. 2nd Street in Ishpeming Township. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Marquette County Jail on their outstanding warrants from Minnesota. The suspects are currently awaiting extradition.

The 35-year-old male suspect from Moorhead, Minn. is charged with four counts, Murder- 2nd Degree With Intent Not Premeditated, Murder- 2nd Degree Drive by Shooting, Attempted Murder- 1st Degree With Intent While Committing a Drive by Shooting, Attempted Murder- 2nd Degree With Intent Not Premeditated. His alleged accomplice, a 32-year-old female suspect from Ishpeming, is charged with Aiding an Offender- 2nd Degree Murder Intentional.

The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between the MSP Special Investigation Section, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET), the Eighth District Traffic Safety Team, the Ishpeming Police Department, Moorhead (MN) Police Department, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

MSP continues to work closely with the Moorhead Police Department as their investigation continues.
