Stolen car crashes while fleeing scene

A Delta County Sheriff’s Department deputy and an employee from Gene’s Towing assess the damage after a car lost control on U.S. 2, crossed multiple driveways, went airborne and came to a rest on the north side of the train viaduct near Meier’s Signs, shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday. As officers were responding to the crash, a call was received that indicated the vehicle had been stollen from the Bay College dormitories parking lot. The driver of the vehicle — dressed in a blue suit — attempted to walk away from the crash, but was quickly apprehended. The man was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital to treat injuries he sustained in the incident.
