Remembering fallen workers

Workers from local trade groups and their families stand listening to speakers inside a tent during this year’s Workers Memorial Day ceremony near the labor monument at the Escanaba Municipal Dock. The day serves as a reminder of those who have lost their lives or been injured on the job. While every Workers Memorial Day is a solemn occasion, Monday’s ceremony hit close to home for many in attendance, as they remembered local resident Cole Gustafson, who died in a workplace accident in August of last year, at the age of 22.
