ESCANABA — Michigan State University Extension will be giving a series of “Smart Gardening” presentations during the Kiwanis Home and Garden Show, which is open at the Ruth Butler Building on the U.P. State Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The presentation schedule is as follows:
SATURDAY
– 10:15 to 11 a.m. – “The Upper Hand of Roses: U.P. Rose Growing, Demystified” with Melissa Boerman, American Rose Society consulting rosarian and MSU Extension Master Gardener trainee.
– 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. – “Re-Think Your Drink” with Amber Hayward, MSU Extension community nutrition instructor.
– 2 to 2:45 p.m. – “Growing Superior Tomatoes” with Miranda Fletcher, agricultural /education assistant, MSU U.P. Research and Extension Center.
– 3:15 to 4 p.m. – “Wake up, Garden, It is Spring” with Linda Winslow, MSU Extension Advanced Master Gardener.
SUNDAY
– 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – “It’s not too Late to Prune your Apple Trees” with Rebecca Krans, MSU Extension consumer horticulture educator.
