Four injured, two critically, in buggy-pickup crash

RIVERLAND — Local law enforcement officers were called to the scene of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a horse and buggy, resulting in the hospitalization of four individuals.
According to the Delta County Sheriff’s Department, on Saturday, at 3:28 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Riverland area on 18th Road near H.25 Road for an accident involving a pickup truck and an Amish horse and buggy. The initial investigation found both the truck and buggy were headed eastbound on 18th Road when the truck struck the buggy.
There were four female passengers on the buggy, and all sustained injuries.
As of Sunday, one has been treated and released from the hospital, and three remain hospitalized, with two of those in critical condition and one in stable condition. The male driver of the pickup truck was uninjured. The crash remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office is being assisted by the Michigan State Police’s Accident Reconstructionist.
