ESCANABA — Firefighters managed to save a third home from being destroyed by fire Monday night on Sheridan Road.
Escanaba Public Safety officers were called to 915 Sheridan Road at 6:21 p.m. after a report two homes were on fire. When officers arrived they found the two structures fully engulfed in flames.
Like many homes in Escanaba’s older neighborhoods, houses were built close together. That makes it easier for fire to spread from structure to structure.
Officers quickly deployed attack lines and stopped the fire from spreading to a third home and adjacent garage.
There was no report of injuries and officers remained at the scene for about three and a half hours.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by Escanaba Township Fire Department, Ford River Township Fire Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Delta County Central Dispatch Center, Rampart EMS and the Red Cross.
