HARRIS — An elderly pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Harris Township Thursday, according to the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release, around 3:35 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of US-2 & 41 and Sabourin Lane D-1 in Harris Township for a traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

Once deputies arrived to the scene, they made contact with both parties and provided immediate assistance to the pedestrian, an 87-year old female. The woman was alert and verbal with serious injuries. She was transported by helicopter to U.P. Health Systems in Marquette for treatment.

Assisting on the scene were personnel from Michigan State Police (MSP), Harris Township Fire Department, Hermansville Rescue, Rampart EMS, Menominee County 911 and Guardian Flight air ambulance.
