Winter weather advisory issued for area Friday
ESCANABA — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of the Upper Peninsula Friday.
In Delta County, 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulations are expected between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. EST today, leading to slippery road conditions that could affect the Friday morning commute.
Neighboring Schoolcraft County is expected to see between 4 and 7 inches from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Travel could be very difficult, and conditions are expected to impact both the morning and evening commutes.
In the central U.P., Alger County is expected to see the most significant snowfall. According to the NWS winter storm warning issued Thursday, between 4 and 9 inches are expected, with the greatest snowfall totals expected in the western half of the county. In areas near the lakeshore, wind gust are expected to reach 35 miles per hour, causing reduced visibility and hazardous driving conditions.
