ESCANABA — Deputies arrested two individuals Sunday morning on several gun and drug charges.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, around 10:30 a.m., Delta County Sheriff Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by three male individuals for defective equipment near the Island Resort Casino on US Highway 2 & 41. Deputies conducted a subsequent investigation with the assistance of the Hannahville Police Department and, Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers from the Gladstone Post. Officers found one of the male passengers to be in illegal possession of a handgun and ammunition.

During the search of the vehicle, officers located $13,503 in U.S. currency, roughly 197 grams of cocaine, 103 grams of suspected fentanyl and 101 grams of ecstasy. Officers also found tabs of ketamine, gabapentin pills, amphetamine pills and psilocybin mushrooms.

The driver and a passenger were lodged in the Delta County Correctional Facility on several drug and gun related charges. Names are being withheld pending arraignment. The sheriff’s department declined to release further information about the case or the people arrested.
