Two arrested for meth in Gladstone

ESCANABA — The Delta County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrests and arraignments of two individuals who allegedly had over 200 grams of methamphetamine in their possession.

On Saturday, Feb. 15, Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers and Gladstone Public Safety Officers conducted a traffic stop on two vehicles.

Law enforcement located roughly 208 grams of methamphetamine discarded in the woods and subsequently arrested Jenny Lynn Donahue, 40, of Gwinn, and Corey Allen Racine, 35, of Gwinn.

According to the press release, Donahue was arraigned on Tuesday, Feb. 18, and Racine was arraigned the next day, Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Donahue was arraigned on one charge of delivery/manufacture – methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to 20 years and/or $25,000.

A $20,000 cash/surety bond was imposed with bond conditions. Conditions include but are not limited to not leaving the state; not using or possessing alcohol, controlled substance, marijuana, or other mind-altering substances; not entering any bars, taverns or other places where the primary purpose of the business is the sale of alcohol; and subject to random drug and alcohol tests.

Racine was arraigned in the 94th District Court on one charge of deliver/manufacture – methamphetamine, a crime punishable by up to 20 years and/or $25,000.

Racine was initially granted a personal recognizance bond due to a medical issue.

During arraignment, Delta County Prosecutor Lauren Wickman argued that a cash bond should be imposed due to the large amount of methamphetamine involved, the defendant’s lack of ties in Delta County, and his prior criminal history.

Over the prosecution’s objection, the court placed Racine on house arrest, requiring a GPS tether, which requires an upfront payment of $1,400.

According to the press release, Racine was unable to pay immediately, but District Court Judge Steven C. Parks allowed him to pay by noon on March 3.

Starting at $2.99/week.
