Contractor gets prison for violating his probation

ESCANABA — A local contractor is headed to prison following a probation violation.
Brent Allen Papineau Jr., of 3685 L. 15 Lane, in Escanaba, appeared before Delta County Circuit Court Judge John Econompoulos on Wednesday for his sentencing following his parole violation.
Not only did Papineau violate his probation, he did so four times, three of which occurred in 2025 alone. Papineau was cited with three failure to report a probation office violations and one violation of being in a gaming (casino) establishment without permission to do so.
Papineau was logged in the Delta County Jail on Feb. 12.
His probation stems from a previous sentencing when Papineau pled guilty to one count of contractor – fraudulent use of building contract fund. He was sentenced at the end of January in 2024.
He was originally sentenced to 12 months in jail, probation for 24 months and ordered to pay $82,451.91 in restitution.
The court found Papineau to be in violation of his probation and sentenced him to 17 months to three years in prison with credit for 379 days already served.
