Winter weather to continue today in area
ESCANABA — A winter weather system that hit the area Monday evening will continue today, potentially bringing heavy snow and hazardous driving conditions.
According to a winter weather advisory published by the National Weather Service, snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are expected across Delta and Schoolcraft Counties between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. today. Isolated areas in far eastern Schoolcraft County, near M-77, will see heavier snows, with up to 6 inches possible.
Motorists are advised that roads may be slippery, with the hazardous conditions likely affecting the evening commute. Drivers should slow down and use caution when traveling.
A separate statement was also issued for Menominee County, however the National Weather Service said that area was more likely to have its morning commute affected by the snow. Total snow accumulations of between 1 and 3 inches are expected in Menominee County.
