Traffic stop leads to arrest on meth charges
NEGAUNEE — A Negaunee man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine among other charges. On Jan. 13, A Michigan State Police (MSP) trooper was on patrol when he noticed a traffic violation committed by a vehicle traveling on Midway Drive near US-41 in Negaunee Township. The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the stop, the male driver switched seats with a female passenger in an attempt to hide that he was the one driving.
The following investigation identified the male as Derrick Cram, 35, of Negaunee. Cram had a suspended driver’s license and was not legally allowed to drive. Further investigation found that Cram was also operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs and was also in possession of methamphetamine. Cram was arrested and transported to the Marquette County Jail. He was arraigned in the 96th District Court and his bond was set at $25,000. He is due back in court on Jan. 23.
