Today’s e-edition looks different. Why?

ESCANABA — Regular readers of the Daily Press e-edition may notice some changes in this edition. There are more color pages. Some of the regular pages such as the Opinion page and Lifestyles are not in their usual locations.

There’s a reason. On Thursday, mail delivery was suspended when a day of remembrance for former President Jimmy Carter was declared a national holiday. That meant that the Daily Press had no way to deliver its print edition to homes. It was decided not to produce a print version on Thursday.

Instead, the e-edition became the only copy of the Daily Press produced. Normally, the e-edition is an exact copy of the print edition. Without having to follow guidelines of a print edition, the Daily Press was able to use color on more pages, switch the location of pages in the paper, and alter the size of the paper in ways we could not before.

For example, today’s B section of the paper has five pages. That would be impossible in a print edition since only an even number of pages can be used.

So, if you notice some changes in the e-edition today, that’s why.

Starting at $2.99/week.
