Meth lab, drugs seized in Iron County sting
MASTODON TOWNSHIP — Over the past several months detectives assigned to the Upper Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) have been investigating a man and women from Iron County for manufacturing methamphetamine.
On January 22, detectives from UPSET obtained information the suspect was manufacturing meth and executed a search warrant at his residence in Mastodon Township.
During a search of the residence detectives seized various chemical used to manufacture methamphetamine along with finished meth product. Some of those chemicals seized included lye, solvents, lithium metal, sulfuric acid and salt. Detectives also seized numerous containers used to manufacture meth.
Both suspects were lodged at the Iron County Jail on charges related to manufacturing meth. Their names are being withheld at this time.
Detectives from UPSET were assisted by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Michigan DNR, West Iron County Fire Department and Iron River Aspirus EMS.
