UP man enters plea on false terrorism charges
MARQUETTE — A Sault Ste. Marie man, 26-year-old Clifford Milam, pleaded no contest to one count of false report or threat of terrorism as a habitual fourth offender, which will see Milam facing 5 to 15 years in prison, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
In February, Milam threatened an assistant prosecutor from Chippewa County who was handling a case against him.
“Threats against prosecutors and judges undermine the very foundation of our justice system,” Nessel said. “I hope this case serves as a reminder to those considering threats of violence against public servants who serve our communities of the serious consequences of such dangerous behavior. My office will continue to hold accountable those who engage in this kind of conduct.”
Milam pleaded no contest to the charges in 50th Circuit Court. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
