One person killed in single vehicle crash
TOWN OF STEPHENSON — One person was killed in a single vehicle crash on Christmas Eve, according to Marinette County Sheriff Randy Miller. The crash occurred on County Highway X – Silver Creek Rd in the Town of Stephenson, Wisconsin.
Miller said that at 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, Marinette County Dispatch received an iPhone crash detection call. Shortly after, it was reported that there was a one-vehicle rollover crash on County Highway X near Silver Creek Road in the Town of Stephenson.
The investigation indicates that a vehicle operated by Chase M. Cutty, 25, of Crivitz, Wisconsin was traveling west on County Highway X when he began to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone. Cutty lost control while passing, went into the ditch, and struck several trees. Cutty, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected during the crash and sustained fatal injuries.
Speed and alcohol appear to have been factors in the crash that remains under investigation by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office. Also assisting Marinette County deputies at the scene were members of the Town of Stephenson Fire Department and Twin Bridge Rescue.
