Two people killed in Iron County crash

CRYSTAL FALLS — Two people were killed and two were injured in a two-vehicle traffic crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 141 near the intersection of Bates-Amasa Road in Hematite Township.

Killed were a 27-year-old male who was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze and his 30-year-old female passenger, both of Horicon, Wis. said Iron County Sheriff Ryan Boehmke,

Another passenger, a 15-year-old male from Waupun, Wis. was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Iron River and later transferred to Marshfield, Wis., for treatment of injuries, Boehmke said in a news release.

Iron County deputies were dispatched to the crash at 1:27 p.m., finding the Cruze and a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado in the east ditch, both with extensive damage. The lone occupant of the Silverado, a 21-year-old male of Pelkie, was taken by ambulance to Aspirus Iron River.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, Boehmke said. Names have not been released and investigation continues.
