High voter turnout on track this Election Day
ESCANABA — Today is election day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. In the case of long lines, all voters have the right to vote if they are in line by 8 p.m.
With a slate of local ballot proposals, hotly contested races, and the showdown between presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, voter turnout is on track to be higher than average this year. Before the polls opened this morning, voter turnout in Delta County was already at 39% — the result of 6,967 voters returning absentee ballots and 4,141 voters participating in the nine days of early in-person voting that ended Sunday.
Unlike early in-person voting — which brought voters from across Delta County to the Wells Township Hall — today’s voting will take place at local precincts, the locations of which are based on voters’ addresses.
