Ice fishing shanties dot the ice off Escanaba as open water can be seen on the horizon. On Tuesday, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office received two separate reports of snowmobiles that had gone through the ice. One snowmobile went through the ice in the area of Farmers dock and the other in the area of the Escanaba beach house. Both riders were able to make it to shore safely. The ice conditions on the bay are deteriorating quickly and should not be considered safe at this time, the sheriff’s department said.
