ESCANABA — The National Trappers Convention Selection Committee met at the National Convention in Spencer Iowa recently and selected the U.P. Trappers Association to host the 2023 Annual National Trappers Convention at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba on July 28, 29 and 30.

The convention is the largest trapping event in the nation will mark a return visit to Escanaba as the event’s site.

Attendees come from nearly every state in the nation and several foreign countries. Many are anticipated staying an extra week or more to enjoy the Upper Peninsula has to offer. The is a family friendly offers many events for children of all ages.

After already helping to organize two previous national conventions, Convention Coordinator, Roy Dahlgren, says it takes thousands of dollars and a hundred or more dedicated volunteers to make a convention of this size run smoothly.
