Police name 2 killed in explosion

HARDWOOD — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post have released the names of two people killed in an explosion in Hardwood, in Dickinson County.

At approximately 9:50 a.m. Thursday, troopers from the Iron Mountain Post responded to a residence on Fordville Road in Hardwood for a report of a large explosion. The homeowners, Roy Kline, age 78, and MaryAnn Kline, age 66, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Fire Marshall investigators from the Michigan State Police were flown from Lansing to assist in the investigation. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by NORDIC Ambulance, Breen Township Fire Department and Felch Township Fire Department.
