Race-Driven expands, grows in Escanaba area

ESCANABA — Local business Race-Driven, which focuses on selling powersports vehicles and parts, has seen promising results after completing a major expansion this summer.
The business was started in 2007 by Brian Heiting.
“He started by … manufacturing equipment parts and selling them online,” Controller Scott Larson said.
Race-Driven has grown significantly since then. Today, it has three locations in the Escanaba area — a manufacturing facility on Danforth Road, a location on Stephenson Avenue that handles online sales and its dealership on Ludington Street. The latter location opened on June 28, 2019, and is in a building that was previously occupied by Northern Motors.
“We are very happy to be (in) downtown Escanaba and to fill an empty building that’s been empty for five years,” Larson said.
Race-Driven’s new location has allowed it to expand into selling vehicles.
“It’s of course a natural fit … to open a dealership that sells those products and services and those machines,” Larson said.
The business now offers KTM motorcycles, as well as Polaris ATVs and UTVs. According to Larson, the introduction of these vehicles to Race-Driven’s lineup of products has been successful.
“It’s exceeded our expectations so far,” he said.
Along with its vehicle sales, Race-Driven offers a full parts department and a full service department at its dealership.
Now that its Ludington Street location is up and running, Larson said Race-Driven is focusing on making the most of its new space.
“What we’re doing now is just refining what we have today,” he said.
He also thanked people in the community for visiting the new location and showing their support.
“(They’ve) been very welcoming,” Larson said.
