ESCANABA — The Bay College Diversity Committee proudly hosted a family-friendly and inclusive event on April 12, 2025, at We Rock the Spectrum Gym in Escanaba. Designed to celebrate children of all abilities and provide families with a space to connect, raise awareness, and provide resources, the event welcomed 30 attendees, including 19 children, for a day filled with play, laughter, education, and resources

Families enjoyed access to the gym’s sensory equipment and supportive environment and enjoyed pizza, door prizes, and goody bags. The event was free of charge thanks to the sponsorship of the Bay College Diversity Committee, with tickets distributed across both the Escanaba and Iron Mountain campuses.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated that people of all ages could participate and stated they would like to see similar events held. Students expressed that the event positively impacted both mental well-being and academic success.

“This event shows inclusion in action. It highlights Bay College’s commitment to a holistic experience for their students, employees, and the greater community,” said Kari Meunier, one of the event organizers.

The Diversity Committee sincerely thanks all who attended, as well as We Rock the Spectrum Gym for providing a truly accessible and joyful space. To learn more about the gym and its mission, visit https://werockthespectrumupnorth.com.
