Northern Lights YMCA offering new financial literacy programs
ESCANABA — The Northern Lights YMCA is offering two new financial literacy programs designed to empower teens with the skills they need for a successful future. Money Masters: Smart Spending & Saving and Spartan Dollars & Sense both provide hands-on learning experiences focused on budgeting, saving, and making smart financial decisions.
Money Masters: Smart Spending & Saving with First Bank
In partnership with First Bank, the YMCA is offering Money Masters, a fun and interactive workshop where teens will learn essential money management skills. Topics include budgeting, saving, and developing smart spending habits. This hands-on session will help participants take control of their finances and build a strong foundation for the future.
It will be Tuesday, March 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the: YMCA Multipurpose Room. Youth ages 13-16 are eligible. Cost is $10 for YMCA members and $20 for non-members. the event includes free pizza and snacks for attendees.
Spartan Dollars & Sense: A Budgeting Challenge through 4-H
Ever wondered how challenging it is to live on your own, pay bills, and make life decisions? In this exciting budgeting simulation, participants will take on the challenge of creating a budget based on real-life monthly expenses. From finding an apartment to buying a car and saving for retirement, participants will develop a budget that aligns with the lifestyle they envision for themselves.
It wil be held Thursday, April 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the YMCA Multipurpose Room. Youth ages 13 to 16 are eligible. Cost is $10 for YMCA members and $20 for Non-members. There will be free pizza and snacks for attendees.
Both programs are designed to provide teens with the tools and knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions, whether they are saving for a future goal or managing day-to-day expenses. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
