MENOMINEE — Activities of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department.

Oct. 11

5:18 p.m. A deputy was contacted by a subject in reference to a larceny on CR 358 in Daggett Township. The caller stated he had was advised that an item was delivered however he did not receive the item and was advised to file a report.

Oct. 12

12:53 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to a breaking and entering on Main St in the village of Hermansville. The caller stated that a subject walked into her house and when he saw her, he took off. The incident is under investigation.

3:02 p.m. Deputies along with fire and rescue were dispatched to a structure fire on M-69 in Harris Township. The caller stated while at the residence working, he could smell smoke and stated a ceiling fan started on fire. He was able to put it out and no injuries were reported.

Oct. 14

6:58 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a stolen vehicle complaint on Old US 41 in Daggett Township. The caller stated he parked his work van over the weekend and when he returned it was gone. The van was located the following day and the investigation is ongoing.

Oct. 15

11:56 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to an address on Robert St in the City of Stephenson for a report of possible assault. An investigation took place and the report was sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for review and possible charges.

Oct. 16

1:40 p.m. A deputy along with fire was dispatched to an ATV on fire on Veeser Ln in Spalding Township. The owner stated he left the machine to collect some brush and when he returned it was fully engulfed.

3:23 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a two-vehicle traffic crash on US 41 in Menominee Township. A vehicle driven by John Helfert (93) of Menominee failed to see a vehicle traveling northbound driven by Marie MacDonald (42) of Stephenson and he turned in front of her. The vehicles collided causing disabling damage to MacDonald’s vehicle and minor damage to Helfert vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Oct. 18

12:10 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to a residence on CR 577 in Faithorn Township for animals in the roadway. Upon further it was found that the animals were not being cared for and they had to be removed from the residence.

12:34 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to a malicious destruction of property complaint on Second St in Spalding Township. The caller stated his vehicle was damaged while in the parking lot. An investigation was conducted and a 25-year-old Powers man was arrested for destruction of property and he was transported to the Menominee County Jail where he was lodged.

Oct. 20

8:41 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a parking complaint on IXL Drive in the Village of Hermansville.

The caller stated the vehicle was parked in the roadway for approximately a week. The owner was contacted and it was moved.

6:48 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a residence on #2 Rd in Menominee Township for a personal protection order violation. An investigation was conducted and the incident was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s office for review and possible charges.
