Limestone Credit Union helps hospice care facilities

MANISTIQUE — On October 14, Credit Union Kind Day (CU Kind Day), Limestone Federal Credit Union supported two meaningful initiatives in Chippewa and Schoolcraft counties. In Schoolcraft County, Limestone FCU organized an event where volunteers created No-Sew Tie Blankets, which were donated to patients receiving hospice care through Schoolcraft Memorial HomeCare. In Chippewa County, Limestone FCU volunteers prepared home-cooked meals, which were frozen and provided to families at Hospice of The E.U.P. These activities not only provided comfort to those in need but also fostered community involvement and care for community members.

Using the supported funds provided by the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, Limestone FCU was able to support our community through our CU Kind Day initiatives.

These initiatives are important because they directly support hospice care patients and their families in our communities. Both Schoolcraft Memorial HomeCare and Hospice of The E.U.P. serve individuals facing advanced illnesses, providing them with essential medical, emotional, and spiritual support. By creating blankets and preparing meals, Limestone FCU was able to bring comfort and warmth to these patients and their families during difficult times. These small acts of kindness help reinforce the community’s commitment to ensuring dignity, comfort, and care for all members, particularly during life’s most challenging moments.

“Schoolcraft Memorial HomeCare and Hospice would like to express our sincere gratitude to Limestone Federal Credit Union and its dedicated team who generously gave their time on Columbus Day to support a meaningful community initiative. While the credit union was closed for the holiday, employees came together to make cozy blankets for our hospice patients.

This wonderful project highlights the credit union’s commitment to giving back to the community. The beautifully crafted blankets will offer warmth and comfort to patients and their families during difficult times.

We are truly thankful for the time and effort the LFCU team invested in this initiative. It’s inspiring to witness our community coming together to make a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.” -Jennifer Evink, RN, HomeCare and Hospice Director at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital
