Activities of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department
June 10
7:38 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a traffic crash on US 2 & 41 in Spalding Township. A vehicle driven by Denise Loberg (59) of Wilson was traveling east on US 2 & 41 when something flew off of a semi that she met and damaged her windshield. No injuries were reported.
9:13 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a trespass complaint on Nowack Rd in Spalding Township. The caller stated she observed a male subject on his trail cam. The area was checked and the incident was closed.
1:36 p.m. A deputy along with Mellen Fire were dispatched to a residence for a report of a fire. It was found out that the fire was in the oven and it had been put out before fire arrived. No injuries were reported.
2:26 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a dog fight complaint on Vega Rd in Meyer Township. The caller stated his and the neighbors’ dogs got into a fight on the property line. All three dogs were injured but would all recover.
10:43 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a domestic on Birch Creek Rd in Menominee Township. The caller stated his wife was out of control and they have been arguing all day. The report was sent to the Prosecutor’s office for review and the charges were denied.
11:17 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle rollover on M-35 in Cedarville Township. A vehicle driven by Evelyn Adams (21) of Howard, Wi was traveling north on M-35when she failed to negotiate a curve causing her to enter the ditch and roll over. Adams stated she was uninjured but the vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed.
June 11
8:44 a.m. Deputies were dispatched to an assault on Wangerin Rd in Mellen Township. The caller stated he was assaulted by another male on a job site. Upon further investigation a 47-year-old Menominee man was arrested for assault. He was given a court date and time to appear before 95A District Court of Menominee and was released.
June 12
3:20 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a traffic crash on M-35 in Ingallston Township. A vehicle driven by Scott Jager (53) of Menominee was following a vehicle driven by Aaron Bastian (38) of Escanaba and was unable to slow down when Bastian braked. Jager struck Bastian in the rear passenger’s side causing minor damage. No injuries were reported and both vehicles sustained minor damage.
9:39 p.m. A deputy initiated a traffic stop on US 41 in Menominee Township for a lane violation. Upon further investigation the driver, a 60-year-old Menominee man, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and cited for PBT refusal. He was transported to the Menominee County Jail where he was lodged.
9:16 p.m. A deputy responded to a well-being check on River Drive in Menominee Township. After making contact a 48-year-old Wallace man was arrested on a valid warrant out of Dickinson County for retail fraud. He was transported to the Dickinson County Jail where he was lodged.
June 13
8:33 a.m. A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for cell phone use in a vehicle on 10th St in the City of Menominee and subsequently arrested the driver, a 47-year-old Stephenson woman, on a valid warrant out of 95A District Court of Menominee for failure to keep payment on a charge of expired registration. The woman was able to post the required bond and was released.
8:19 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to an eavesdropping complaint on W Third St in the Village of Hermansville. The caller stated her privacy was violated and she wanted to file a report. Upon further investigation the incident was unfounded and it was closed.
12:15 p.m. A deputy was dispatched a malicious destruction of property complaint on J-3 Ln in Stephenson Township. The caller stated that a vehicle was damaged overnight. An investigation was conducted and the suspect was located and the incident was cleared up.
June 14
3:27 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a two-vehicle traffic crash on M-35 in Menominee Township. A vehicle driven by Jared Clausen (30) of Bark River fell asleep and crossed the center line and side swiped a semi driven by Dane Knetter (59) of Green Bay, WI. No injuries were reported in the crash. Clausen’s vehicle sustained minor damage.
11:59 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a motorcycle crash on Hood St in the City of Stephenson. A motorcycle driven by Alvin Williams (40) of Stephenson was making a right hand turn and lost control on some gravel. Williams was transported to the hospital for his non-life-threatening injuries.
6:21 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a suspicious situation on Maple St in the City of Stephenson. An investigation was conducted and a juvenile subject was warned of criminal trespass on the property.
June 15
1:05 p.m. Deputies were dispatched to a domestic on Frenchtown Rd in Daggett Township. The caller stated her husband is threatening her. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.
1:50 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a retail fraud compliant on Menominee St in the City of Stephenson. The caller witnesses a female subject steal an item. The suspect, a 43-year-old Stephenson woman, was arrested for retail fraud. She was given a citation and advised that 95A District Court will advise of a court date and time.
June 16
7:28 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a malicious destruction of property complaint on Eustic Rd in Harris Township. Caller stated several mailboxes were damaged on their road. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.
June 18
12:15 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a two-vehicle traffic crash on G-18 in Nadeau Township. A vehicle driven by Timothy Smotucha (56) of Wallace failed to stop on time and struck a vehicle driven by Lisa Fleagle (65) of Manistique when she was stopped at an intersection. No injuries were reported and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
7:46 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to an assault on M-35 in Ingallston Township. The caller stated she was assaulted by a male subject that had since left. An investigation was conducted and the incident was closed.
June 20
12:37 a.m. A deputy initiated a traffic stop on US 2 in Meyer Township for a lane violation. Upon further investigation the driver, a Charles Everman (42) Kingsford, MI man, was arrested for operating while intoxicated. He was transported to the Menominee County Jail where he was lodged without incident.
