Stephenson students head to state BPA competitions

ESCANABA — About 250 students from across the U.P. braved the snow storm and traveled to Bay College in Escanaba on January 12 to demonstrate management, marketing, and technology skills at the Business Professionals of America regional conference. As a result of their diligent work and success, seven Stephenson students qualified to represent their school at the state level competitions in March.

Capturing 1st-place awards were Lilyan Wagner in Advanced Word Processing, Ashton Grinsteiner in Interview Skills, Faith Cappaert in Parliamentary Procedures Open, and the Parliamentary Procedure Team. Team members include Joelle Beaudo, Morgan Bergquist, Faith Cappaert, Olivia Cappaert, and Luke Olson.

Second-place awards were earned by Ashton Grinsteiner in Presentation Individual and Joelle Beaudo in the Parliamentary Procedures Open.

Receiving 3rd-place awards were Lilyan Wagner in Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications and Olivia Cappaert in Parliamentary Procedures Open.

Earning 4th-place awards were Joelle Beaudo in the Health Administration Concepts Open and Luke Olson in the Parliamentary Procedures Open.

Fifth-place awards were earned by Morgan Bergquist in the Parliamentary Procedures Open and by Joelle Beaudo in the Meeting and Event Planning Concepts Open.

The 2024 BPA State Leadership Conference will be held March 7-10 in Grand Rapids. At the state conference, Stephenson students will compete against BPA students from across Michigan, attend workshops designed to aid in professional development, and gain valuable work skills.
