Bay de Noc Choral Society concert

ESCANABA — The Bay de Noc Choral Society will present their annual spring concert, “Anthem for Spring,” on Sunday. April 13 at 1:30 p.m.

The concert will take place at Bethany Lutheran Church, 202 South 11th Street. A free will offering will be taken.

Elks get grant for ­community projects

ESCANABA — The local Elks Lodge #354 was awarded the Beacon Grant through the Elks National Foundation Community Investment Program. This grant was used to purchase personal hygiene products, clothing, undergarments and a large variety of food. These items were donated to the City of Escanaba Recreation Department and Catherine Bonifas Civic Center’s After School Program as well as the Hannahville Youth Center. Both programs provides safe, supervised environments for students.

The Elks Lodge No. 354 members contribute to the Elks National Foundation which allows for funding. Due to these local contributions, the Elk’s Lodge No. 354 members were able to put $2 or more back into the community for each dollar their members contribute.
