Book donation sought

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVD’s and music CD’s to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival. They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The League is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests that the books meet the donation criteria.

The book drop-off location has changed. Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St., use 11th Street entrance, Suite 208 (straight in) and look for the sign.

Donations can also be made by calling Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789 for pick up.

Tri-County MEA-R to meet Dec. 2

ESCANABA — The U.P. Tri-County MEA-R Chapter will hold a meeting on Monday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. (EST) at Bay College, Conference Room SC525, located behind Cafe Bay in the Student Service building. Use parking lot D. Guest speaker will be Bay College Librarian Mariel Carter. Tours of the library and library services available to the public will be discussed.

Any interested retired or current MEA member may attend. Please bring a non-perishable food item to share with the college’s food pantry.

Menominee MARSP meets Dec. 5

CARBONDALE — The Menominee County Chapter of Retired School Personnel (MARSP) will meet on Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Little Nugget Clubhouse on East County Road 338 in Carbondale. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. Central time and the meal will be served at noon. Lunch will be a chicken dinner at a cost of $14.

Members are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys, books and games to be distributed to the Salvation Army Christmas gift drive. Christmas cards for members who are not able to attend meetings will be available for signing. In the event of inclement weather on Dec. 5, the alternate date for the meeting would be Dec. 12.

The program will be presented by The Goodfellas – John Wills and Dave Ebsch. A brief business meeting will follow the program. For late reservations or cancellations members should contact Linda Linczeski at 906-863-8892 or llinczeski@hotmail.com
