Conference for educators set for Oct. 26

HARRIS — A U.P. conference for educators will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Island Resort and Casino, west of Escanaba. The theme is “Inspire the Present, Ignite the Future.”

Educators are invited for a day of learning, inspiration, and interaction. The conference runs from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT and registration is $50. Four SCECH hours are available.

The event is sponsored by DKG, an association of women educators.

The day begins with registration and breakfast followed by a welcome address. Sessions include: Ann Dallman, retired teacher and award-winning author, “How Teaching Inspired My Writing;” Heidi Hansen, Early Childhood educator, “Advantages of Outdoor Education;” Megan Buck, 2023 Public Librarian of the Year, “The Right to Read”, and DKG state officers, “Leadership — Moving Forward.”

A lunch buffet with salad, hot entrée, and sides is included.
