Suicide Prevention Task Force supports Y.E.S.
ESCANABA — The Delta County Suicide Prevention Task Force has given a $10,000 donation to Y.E.S. Youth Empowering Services.
The Task Force wants to support the efforts of this mentoring project. According to the task force, they feel Y.E.S. is giving children of all ages the emotional support they may need and the comfort in knowing someone cares about how they are feeling. The Y.E.S. program focuses on connection, relationships, advocacy, and mental health to students. The mentors work with children who are experiencing mild distress, functional impairment or at risk for a given problem.
Y.E.S. is currently serving 265 students at ten schools and one juvenile detention center. They have 27 programs working with children from kindergarten to high school. The Task Force will work with Y.E.S. to discuss ways to incorporate mental health and suicide topics.
