Ettenhofer served on the Escanaba police force from 1920-51, when he and his wife were killed in a car crash east of Manistique while on their way to a police convention downstate. Ettenhofer served 14 of his 31 years as chief of police in Escanaba. In back row, center, is Officer McCully. Note the motorcycle cop, front left, whose uniform style differs from that of the other officers.
