This week's bouquets go to:
From Blues for a Cause:
Big thanks are extended to everyone who helped make the Music Mondays in Ludington Park such a success. Whether you supported the concerts by sharing your musical talent, selling or buying 50/50 raffle tickets, or attending the concerts, you helped the concert series succeed. It was a wonderful time and a joy to see people bopping their heads, tapping their feet, or dancing along to the music. In addition, $1,518 was raised to help local charities. The Bonifas Arts Center will be organizing the concerts in 2015, so the series will continue. What a great summer and what a wonderful, supportive town we live in.
From the Gladstone School and Public Library:
The Gladstone School and Public Library would like to give a big thank you to all of the area businesses, patrons, the Altrusa Club, and the Friends of the Gladstone Library who helped make our summer reading program a huge success. We appreciate their support to enhance literacy in our community.
From the Superior Upper Peninsula Regional Chapter of the Red Cross:
The Superior Upper Peninsula Regional Chapter of the Red Cross would like to thank the management and staff of the Escanaba Walmart. Their generous donation of $1,000 to our chapter will help support our fire disaster annual relief efforts. This donation will allow our volunteers to provide Delta County fire victims immediate disaster relief which means which means our local volunteers can arrive with arms open and full giving relief, comfort and hope. This donation allows the fire victims the ability to stay in a hotel room, buy immediate need items (i.e. tooth brushes and wool socks), gives a sense of hope, personal security, and the ability to make critical family decisions immediately. This fund is essential to continue the mission of the Red Cross locally. Wal-Marts generous donation will go a long way. On behalf our all our dedicated Red Cross volunteers, thank you Walmart.
From the Delta Animal Shelter:
The Delta Animal Shelter would like to send a bouquet to Clare Bedding for their generosity. They make pads/beds for the animals to use and deliver them to us. Without support from the people and businesses like Clare Bedding, the shelter would have to spend more of our money on keeping the animals safe, warm, and dry. Together we can make our non-profit work for the good of the animals in our care. Thank you from the shelter workers and the animals.
Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.
We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.
Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they've done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.
