I was very disappointed on your article on Monday, June 30 "Aronsson prevails over Parks" written by Bryce Derouin. Most of the article was about Parks and not much on Molly's first win ever in a tournament. I wish you would of done a better job on reporting the whole round and not only get quotes from Molly and not the way she played in windy conditions. She had never won an amateur, college or a pro tournament till now. Her best finish on tour was a ninth place finish in Florida last year.
Aronsson started the day three shots back of leader Lacey Agnew and after Molly birdied one, she gave the stroke back at the second. But, after birdies on three and four she was now the leader alone at -3. Agnew had a rough day without making a birdie and shot a 79.
Sadena Parks and Aronsson were within one shot of each other or tied for most of the day. Briefly Katie Kemptur was tied with them at -2 after she birdied eight and nine, but fell out of the lead with a bogey at ten and was never a factor the rest of the day finishing at +1.
I had the pleasure of volunteering at the tournament all three days and got to meet most of the players in the scoring tent. They are very impressive females who were pleasant and saying nice things about the course and the area. Some of them, of course, didn't like the way they played or the pace of play at times, but they were very complimentary of the tour, course and the fans.
It was nice to see the way the fans were able to follow right behind the players on the course and give them support. All three days it was very windy but for the most part good weather. The greens played firm and I thought they did pretty good on them with some tough pin positions.
The tournament sponsors, fans and volunteers made the tournament success again this year. I can't thank the players to for saying complimentary things about everyone here. I want to congratulate Molly Aronsson for being a true champion in tough conditions. She is a player, I'm gonna be following and hoping for good results. She was very gracious to all the fans and the players were saying nice things about her. Can't wait till next year."
