This week's bouquets go to:
From Christine Lundin:
"On behalf of the Rapid River Reading Buddies, I would like to thank all the volunteers who made a difference in the life of a child. Thank you also to the RSVP Program for their financial support and the Gladstone Library and the Gladstone Senior Center for hosting our story hour and pizza party. We look forward to seeing you next year."
From Gladstone Braves Varsity Boys Basketball parents:
"Congratulations to the Gladstone Boys Varsity Basketball team for earning a combined 3.722 GPA for the 2013-2014 season. Given the time demands required of athletes, this is quite an impressive accomplishment. Many of these boys also serve as class officers, Student Council representatives, mentors for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, and members of the Gladstone High School National Honor Society. At a time in society when athletic prowess often overshadows academic achievement, it is important to recognize this type of accomplishment. We are extremely proud of these young men and the example they have set for future generations. We wish them continued success on and off the court."
From Jim Hansen, Escanaba tennis coach:
"I would like to thank all of the businesses, community members, and parents for the support and financial fundraising again for this year's version of the Escanaba Boys Tennis Team. Many kids continue to have an opportunity to represent the Eskymos because of your continued generosity. It was a great year. Thank you."
From Beth Deacon, Gladstone High School Advanced Algebra Class,
"The Gladstone High School Advanced Algebra Class would like to send a big thank you to Jim Pardon and everyone at Pardon Inc., who worked hard to make our recent field trip a success. The variety of products, manufacturing processes and three dimensional examples provided a great opportunity for my students to answer the age old "what do I need to learn that for" question. Thanks for supporting math in education."
From Dana Williams, students and staff at Webster Elementary School,
"On behalf of the students and staff at Webster Elementary School, I would like to send a bouquet to our wonderful PTO. Throughout the year you have provided money, volunteers, and support for so many fun, educational opportunities at Webster that would not have been possible without you. Thank you so much."
From Dr. William LeMire, Escanaba, chairman of the Delta Council on Aging:
"For the past 12 years our little group has been organizing the annual Senior Living Conference, which is designed to help senior citizens maintain their highest possible quality of life.
"This year's conference took place May 1 at the Island Resort Convention Center. The conference includes vendor tables, speakers, and a topnotch lunch in a beautiful and gracious setting. Each year the conference has grown, with this year's attendees numbering over 340.
"Thanks to generous sponsors who are true community partners, the fee for the conference is kept artificially low. So much so that, without these sponsors, we would lose a considerable amount of money with each and every ticket sold.
"Thanks to the Council on Aging members, our speakers, sponsors and the seniors who attend the event, this is a true community effort. Each year we learn a little bit more, enabling us to make the conference even better the following year. Thanks to everyone who played a part. I can't tell you much it was appreciated."
