Dorothy McKnight asked Holy Name kindergartners:
"You're going to be moving on to first grade next year.
What did you like most or the least about being a kindergartner?"
“I like journaling. First you get to write something on one side and then you draw a picture about it on the other side.”
“Work (sigh), work (big sigh), work?(BIG sigh)! You always have to do math. We’re working on clocks and we have to write the hours.”
“I like spelling because it’s something I can do and it’s not too hard.” (What’s her hardest word to spell?)
“It’s hard work to do the math and also coloring. I like it if I can scribble but I have to have an OK before I can be done.”
“I like doing journals. You have to draw pictures and then have to sound out the words. I wrote about butterflies.”
“Work...any kind of work. I like to play. And I don’t like spelling ’cause I have to have my pencil in my hand a long time and my hand gets tired.”
