The Gladstone High School Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispnica (Spanish Honor Society) held its new member induction ceremony in mid-May at Ferdinand's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Escanaba. The occasion included the induction ceremony, a Mexican nacho supreme buffet dinner, and guest speaker, Angelina Gardner Feak, a third-year Spanish student at GHS. In addition, GHS Spanish III students entertained the guests by playing the Spanish traditional song "Arre, borriquito" or "Giddyup, Donkey" on flute and piccolo. The new inductees are: from left front, Cristina "Christine" Sharon, Alita "Lexi" Hunsberger Pierce, and Rolanda "Morgan" Bowie Quantz; in back are Kaylee Hubert, Isabel "Lindsey" McCann Glaus, and Margarita "Morgan" Wastell Budkis. Not pictured is inductee Dean Herioux. To become a member of the Spanish Honor Society, a student must have completed at least three semesters of Spanish with an honors average (3.0 or better) and have shown and proven a deep interest in the Spanish language and culture. The Spanish Honor Society advisor is Gladstone High School Spanish teacher Michlle Kenville Miller.
