Minimum wage

February 6, 2014
Daily Press

EDITOR:

As a senior citizen I am concerned about the raising of the minimum wage. Most senior citizens live on a fixed income. My mother could not exist on her own if she did not live with me. With the raising of the minimum wage we will see the cost of gas, groceries, fast food, clothing, everything will have to go up. Businesses will not be able to continue unless they can make a profit. Unfortunately these costs will also go up for everyone including those who will receive a raise. I do not see where anyone will benefit in the long run. I believe it will just cause inflation which will make it even harder for seniors to exist on their retirement income.
