Roberta Mae Ecklid

GLADSTONE - Roberta Mae Ecklid, 77, of 217 Dakota Ave. in Gladstone (Bay View Apartments) passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette. She was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Hetherton, Mich., and was the daughter of Robert and Annabelle (Eldridge) Underwood. Roberta graduated from high school and then attended college. The former Roberta Underwood married Calvin Willis on March 27, 1952, and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1991. Roberta was employed at the Northern Michigan Veneer Company in Gladstone until her retirement and was very involved with the Senior Companion Program at Bishop Noa Home. She enjoyed traveling, making crafts, crocheting and sewing.

Roberta Mae Ecklid is survived by her daughters, Christine Corely of Ohio, Judith Crum of Little Lake, Marie Jensen of Ohio, Sheila Cruz of Ohio; sons, Clyde Willis of Lower, Mich., Daniel Willis of Gwinn; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard and Roy; sisters, Norma and Reachal; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Steven Patrick "Chum" Willis on Feb. 1, 1985, and grandson Kenneth Glen Crum, Jr. on Aug. 14, 2009.

Private family visitation and funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone.
