Rose K. (Jackovich) Ratkovich

ESCANABA - Rose K. (Jackovich) Ratkovich, 93 of 2701 1st. Ave. S., Escanaba, passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born May 19, 1920, in Gladstone, Mich., and was the daughter of Louis and Julia (Gregory) Jackovich. Rose was raised in the "Buckeye" area in Gladstone and attended school in Gladstone.

The former Rose Jackovich married Edwin Anderson and he preceded her in death in 1957 and she later married Joseph Ratkovich he preceded her in death in 1994. After the death of her first husband Rose began a long and successful career at the House of Ludington, baking great desserts including beautiful wedding cakes. Rose also became the cook at the House of Ludington and planned many festive galas with Pat Hayes and Mary Dowling. Rose was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Womens Guild at St. Anthony Catholic Church, and a faithful member of TOPS. She also loved her trips to Las Vegas and her gambling bus trips. Rose was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She was an exceptional baker and cook.

Rose K. Ratkovich is survived by: daughter, Charleen (John) Cavadeas of Gladstone; three grandchildren, Toni Lynn (Rick) West, Deanna Liberty and Tim (Pam) Cavadeas; five great-grandchildren, Bradley and Michael Liberty, Mitch West and Paige and Cooper Cavadeas; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands she was precede in death by brothers, Alvin and Joseph Jackovich, and sisters, Margaret Jackovich, Florence Johnsen and Lillian Jackovich.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Rose K. Ratkovich will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Rich Courier from St. Anthonys Catholic Church officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services in the Anderson Funeral Home fellowship area. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Delta County Animal Shelter or the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes will be available at the Anderson Funeral Home.
